A form of mobile billing, Premium Rate SMS enables the delivery of
reverse charged SMS messages via use of the m-commerce platform. This
enables a secure micro payment solution for your users by means of
an existing technology. Premium Rate SMS is available on all UK and
most European networks with Australian networks rolling out their
trials NOW! In essence Premium Rate SMS enables you to charge your
users for any product or service via SMS.
In the UK, tariffs range from £0.10 to £5.00 per message
received depending on the network. The European networks also offer
a range between €0.10 to €3.00 per message sent and/or
received depending on the network. To access the service users send
a message to a 4 or 5 digit short dial code (SDC) with the keyword
for the service they want.

A user wanting to subscribe to your online service sends a normal
SMS containing "SUBSCRIBE" to a short code. The user will
then receive Premium Rate SMS messages daily, weekly or monthly which
ever you choose, containing their username & password. |
Micro Payments:
Premium Rate SMS is a easy system to use for micro payments such as
the purchasing of logos, ringtones or MMS. A user sends a normal SMS
containing the ID number of the logo, ringtone or MMS they want and
seconds later they receive the information which has been reverse
charged to their mobile phone account. |
Competitions
& Voting:
Premium Rate SMS is an easy system for competitions
& voting, enabling a user to send a normal SMS containing their
vote. A responding Premium Rate SMS is then sent back to the user
thanking them for their vote. Example services include: Big Brother,
MTV & Video Clash. |
Time Based
Alerts:
This enables a user to register for event updates
at their favourite nightclub by sending a normal SMS containing "NIGHTCLUB
NAME EVENTS" to a short dial code. Each time the nightclub updates
their events or on a time-based system the user will receive a Premium
Rate SMS updating them on special events & special nights at their
favourite nightclub. Other example services include: Football Results,
Weather Forecasts & Stock Prices. |
Interactive
Services:
Enabling users to interact with each other engaging in chat room style
communication. The user sends a normal SMS containing "GROUPCHAT
ROMANCE" to a short code. This then registers them in the system
for group chat and they will then receive reversed billed SMS messages
containing other users chat messages within the ROMANCE chatroom.
These messages a normally charged at a lower rate than other services
due to the frequency of messages sent. Users are also limited to the
amount of chat messages they can receive per day.
